Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Certificate (ICSE) have decided to cancel the 12th board examination in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Check out the official notification below.

The decision has been taken post-review meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Soon after this decision, several other state boards such as the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and state boards like Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE), Rajasthan Board of School Education (RBSE), Madhya Pradesh Board (MPB) have also cancelled 12th standard board ’21 exams.

Earlier, students of the 12th standard took to Twitter and requested the prime minister to cancel the board examination. In response, PM said, “COVID-19 has affected the academic calendar and the issue of Board Exams has been causing immense anxiety among students, parents and teachers, which must be put to an end. Students should not be forced to appear for exams in such a stressful situation.”
In addition to the cancellation of the board examination, students who desire to appear for the board examination will be provided with an opportunity when the situation becomes conducive. There is still a debate on the compilation of the 12th standard result, during the key meeting it was decided the result will be prepared with “well-defined objective criteria” in a time-bound manner.
